Jennifer Stidham, PLPC, NCC
Jennifer holds a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University and is a Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Missouri. She is an empathetic listener who is passionate about delivering the very best client care through client-centered, trauma-informed counseling. Jennifer is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and the Missouri Mental Health Counselors Association.
Jennifer believes in the power of the therapeutic relationship. She considers it holy work to hold space for others as they tell their stories, unload their worries, and find hope for their hurting hearts. Modeling Christ's acceptance of us, Jennifer believes the counseling process should begin with acceptance. Jennifer's therapeutic focus extends to trauma-informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, where she helps clients identify and challenge irrational beliefs causing distress in one's life.
Jennifer is passionate about the integration of all parts of a person. Body, mind, and spirit are all connected, so healing work must be addressed on all levels. A session with Jennifer usually will include different types of grounding and meditation (and probably some fidget toys or crayons for coloring!). Leaning on the therapeutic benefits nature offers, Jennifer incorporates visualization techniques and physical grounding using rocks, plants, or other natural materials for managing anxiety and other overwhelming emotions. Sessions often include empowerment and resilience-focused affirmations.
Jennifer sees adults and adolescents (12+) for individual counseling. Whether you are working to overcome the trauma in your life, struggling in your relationships, feeling overwhelmed by life's demands, or experiencing depression and/or anxiety, Jennifer is ready to listen with grace and compassion. As a PLPC, Jennifer is trained to help clients enhance insights into their thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and actions.
She also sees couples for marriage counseling, where she uses the SYMBIS curriculum to enhance each partner's awareness of their unique, God-given abilities and tendencies. Using the assessment tool provided in the SYMBIS material, Jennifer helps couples honor the complexities of their spouses while understanding how their distinctive characteristics blend together in a God-honoring marriage.
Jennifer is a pastor's wife and the mother of three school-aged children doing homeschool this year. She loves to be outdoors on her farm, tending her sheep or feeding her chickens. She has a heart for stray animals and is a proud recipient of the cat distribution system for the fourth time in the past year. She loves the magical feeling that first sip of coffee gives her in the mornings and she is always up for a trip to the thrift store! Jennifer loves hearing people's stories and would consider it an honor to hear yours.
Jennifer works under the supervision of Pamela Harms, LPC #2021011825
